This listing describes a bulk pack of Neodymium Bar Magnets with dimensions of 20 mm × 5 mm × 2 mm.

Neodymium magnets (often called rare-earth magnets) are significantly stronger than standard grey ceramic/ferrite magnets of the same size. These slim, rectangular bars are incredibly popular for DIY projects, kitchen organization, and clean home aesthetics because they pack massive holding power into an almost invisible profile.

Technical Dimensions Decoded

  • 20 mm (Length): Just under an inch long (approx. 0.78 inches).
  • 5 mm (Width): Very narrow, about the width of a standard pencil eraser.
  • 2 mm (Thickness): Extremely thin and low-profile. When mounted, they sit almost perfectly flush against surfaces.

What Can You Do With Them?

Because of their flat shape and high strength, these bar magnets are incredibly versatile:

  • Hidden Cabinet Latches: Glue one to a cabinet door and one to the frame for a strong, invisible magnetic closure.
  • Magnetic Tool & Spice Racks: Line several up behind a thin strip of wood to create a hidden magnetic holder for keys, kitchen knives, or metal spice tins.
  • Sleek Fridge Organization: Securely hold heavy cardstock, photos, or calendars to the fridge without large, clunky plastic magnets blocking the view.
  • Crafting & Board Games: Perfect for making custom magnetic closures on handmade boxes, portfolios, or 3D-printed tabletop gaming terrain.

⚠️ Crucial Safety & Handling Warning

Neodymium magnets require careful handling. Because they are thin and incredibly brittle, they behave differently than regular magnets.

                  ⚠️ HANDLING NEODYMIUM MAGNETS ⚠️

  <- | |    | | ->                          -> | |====| | <-

(Slide apart horizontally) (Clapping together directly)
  • They Will Shatter on Impact: Neodymium is actually a sintered metal powder coated in nickel. If you let two of these bar magnets snap violently together from a few inches away, they will crash with enough force to shatter, chip, or send tiny metal splinters flying. Always separate them by sliding them apart horizontally rather than pulling them straight off.
  • Keep Away from Electronics & Cards: Their strong magnetic fields can corrupt old hard drives, pacemakers, and the magnetic strips on credit cards.
  • Choking Hazard: Keep them strictly out of reach of small children and pets. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract each other through intestinal walls, causing life-threatening medical emergencies.

Installation Tip: Choosing the Right Adhesive

Since these are bare metal bars, they do not come with adhesive backing. If you plan to glue them to wood, plastic, or fabric for a project, standard school glue or hot glue won’t hold them against their own pulling force. For best results, use a two-part epoxy or a high-quality cyanoacrylate (Super Glue / Gorilla Glue), and lightly scuff the nickel plating of the magnet with sandpaper first to give the glue a better grip.
